
The chiefs and people of the Yendi constituency have expressed happiness over the appointment of Hajia Abibata. on their social media handles, they are thankful to the president for affirming such confidence on her. They assured the president of a successful delivery of service. Prior to her appointment, Hajia Abibata, served as the deputy Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans (MASLOC) under the first government of President Nana Akufo-Addo. She played a major role in garnishing votes for the NPP especially in the North and Yendi constituency. Hajia Habiba is instrumental in the women wing of the New Patriotic Party and hence adds to the number of women appointees in the current government.

Brief Profile
Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah was born in Yendi and is the daughter of Alhaji Shanni Mahama, a former Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency and Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the K A Busia government. She attended the University of Ghana, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She also has a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) degree from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) of Columbia University in New York City. She majored in Economic and Political Development. She is married with four children.
She is a Ghanaian banker and the former deputy Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). She is a politician, a policymaker, and a business development specialist. She contested to represent her party, the New Patriotic Party as its parliamentary candidate for the Yendi constituency. She lost to Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of late former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama. Abibata was a former business Development Manager of Jospong Group of Companies.
