Milovan Rajevac is back! as new Black Stars head coach
Otto Addo and Maxwell Kunadu as assistants

Milovan Rajevac, a Serbian coach, has been named the Black Stars’ new head coach. The Serbian has the job to head the Black Stars of Ghana for the second time. He was previously hired in 2008 to succeed French manager Claude Le Roy.
Following the dismissal of Head Coach of the Black Stars Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s on September 14, 2021, a three-member committee was formed and tasked with finding a new manager for the country, with several names nominated. Milovan was chosen by the committee and a one-year contract with a one-year extension option if he helps the Black Stars qualify for the World Cup. He will receive $30,000 monthly.
Dortmund assistant coach Otto Addo and Maxwell Konadu will assist Rajevac. The new goalkeepers’ trainer, Richard Kingson, has also been reappointed. Kurt Okraku, GFA President, stated, “Coaching is a very important component of the football ecosystem, the GFA Executive Council takes coaching very seriously. There will be a head coach and two assistant coaches on the new technical staff. Both of the assistants are from Ghana.”
History of Milovan in Ghana
The 67-year-old Serbian was formerly the coach of Ghana’s national team, taking them to the CHAN final in 2009, the AFCON final in 2010, and the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals in 2010. During his two-year stay in Ghana, he coached the team in 28 games, winning 12, losing 11, and drawing 5.
His immediate goal will be to defeat Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifying doubleheader and then qualify the team for the 2022 World Cup.
