Ghana Police trending for good Public Relations

is it a Dampare effect?

The Ghana Police Service is trending on the media waves and especially social media platforms for the show of proactive communication. This ‘new’ style is not only with the frequency of communication but the approach to issues of public interest. Ghanaians were wowed on Tuesday, 14th September, when Ghana police shared an apology to the media and reassured them of better service. The church members of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International prevented the media from doing their work. We will recall that the Head Pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah was arrested for threatening and brandishing of a weapon and the assault of some Police personnel.

The amusement was stretched further when they showed appreciation to the public for cooperation during the emergency ECOWAS summit in Accra on the 16th of September. The statement on their social media handles read.

“The Police Administration commends the public for their compliance and cooperation with the Police yesterday, Thursday, September 16, following the temporary closure of some major roads due to the extraordinary meeting of West African Heads of State”. The statement ended, “we, however, apologize for any undue inconvenience that may have been created as a results of the temporary road closure”

Many Ghanaians think that the consistent and relevant engagement of the  general public will restore and strengthen the relationship between the police and the general public.
